Driving home from work wasn't really anything special. Just chug chug chuggin along and hoping that the miles would pass faster so I could see Dan. I'm sitting at the light at Parker road waiting for it to change. Directly in front of me is a guy on a motorcycle, only the light in the back isn't on. Odd.
After a few minutes (Parker is a pretty major street so the lights last forever), I can tell the bike isn't on, he's trying to kick start it or whatever, and it's clearly not working.
That's when I noticed the homeless guy (well...he can't be that homeless because he actually looked pretty clean, and was clean shaven-ish) walked over and helped him push his bike out of the road and onto the sidewalk. Impressed to say the least.
It actually kind of twinged at my heart a little just to see another human being helping someone out. Honestly, I'm not huge on giving out stuff to the people on the corners. Usually it's because I don't have any food and I'm not going to give them money, but today I really was ticked I didn't have any food. Not even a sandwich. I just felt like his good deed deserved some rewarding for himself. I don't know it just really struck me. Then the lady that was with the homeless guy helped the motor cycle guy, let him borrow her phone to call someone (see I don't think they're really homeless) and gave him some of her food.
It always makes me happy to see other people helping each other out. Like there's a reason to still have some faith in humanity.
Totally unrelated side note: Dan and I went on our very first pajama run since being married!! It was so fun. We took the Greer's with us, and it was nice to just do something spontaneous and share our little family tradition with someone else. We went to Burger King and each had an ice cream cone.
I still remember the first one I went on with Dan. We were staying at his parent's house for President's Day weekend, and I had just taken a shower. We were watching some TV and then Dan's parents come rushing in and say "pajama run!!" I was going to run upstairs and get my shoes (you have 30 seconds to get into the car) but Dan wouldn't let me! So he carried me out to the car. We went to McDonalds and all got ice cream cones. It was so fun!! I can't wait to do that with our kids one day. One day.

I'm having a party...a party for two
Sierra Vista Weekend: BEST THING EVER!
Well this action packed weekend started off on Friday night. Let's just say that Thatcher has got to be one of the most exciting places around...especially when everyone just up and leaves. But really, it ends up being these times that we have the most fun. Well, we decided that we wanted to go out to Roper Lake because they had a hot tub so we wanted to go. When I say we, this is who I mean: Me, Dan, Raegan, Hannah Gunderson, Cody Elmer, Kelton Merrill, Blaine Greer, Brian Baldwin, Stephanie Daley, Hillary Savage, and Jessica Martindell.
So long story short, we go out to Roper and the guard is still there, so we went to the duck ponds at the fair grounds to wait until 1030 ish so we could go back there. We were running around playing tunnel tag and throwing the ball around. It was actually pretty fun. There was one point where I was frozen, so Blaine is going through my legs--keep in mind that Blaine is 6'3" or 6'4" so he's a tall guy--and he starts to stand up before he's gotten all the way through so his hips catch my legs and I end up jumping up and almost falling over because of it. It was so funny! But what was funnier what that not even 5 minutes later, the exact same thing happened to Jessica when Brian went to go under her!
We went back out to Roper and the guard was just patrolling around the park...so needless to say, we weren't getting into the hot tubs tonight. So we decided to go out to the river and have a bonfire and possibly get into the water. I mean it's only February. The water can't be that cold right? WRONG!! So we got the bonfire started and all the boys went into the river and jumped in except for Blaine...pansy. Haha just joking. So then the boys spent the rest of the night throwing all of us girls in. Yeah that water was dang freaking cold. Don't worry, I tried to fight it and I have the bruises on the back of my legs to prove it, but to no avail. I still got dumped in. It. Was. Awesome. NOT.
Saturday morning, Dan and I left for Sierra Vista around 8 in the morning. We were only a half an hour late...and this is the first time that it's been my fault. I think that's a record or something. Anyway, we get to Sierra Vista around 10 and hung out with his parents for a little bit, made some muffins--which were delicious!, and then ended up taking like a two hour nap. I tell ya, naps might just be one of the best things ever. So after our lovely little nap, we made some chocolate chip cookies and popcorn. Are you seeing a theme here? We bake a lot! That night for dinner we went and got chipotle, and I'm pretty sure that was a little bit of heaven in a burrito. I haven't had that for over a year and it was sooo delicious. Thinking about it makes my mouth water. YUMMMM.
Sunday we had church at 1...so that kind of sucked waiting around forever for it to finally be 1. It was good though. I met all of Dan's friends and his bishop told us that we should just get married already. Haha funny stuff. So in Relief Society, they asked me to introduce myself and I was like "Umm...I'm Arielle." Then Megan butted in and said "She's my roommate and Dan Haban's friend" along with Sister Goates who also said "She's Dan Haban's friend!" Yeah I think I turned ten different shades of red and realized why I don't like being the visitor. It's so awkward! Haha his mom wasn't even there to introduce me :[ she was sick.
Matt and Rhianna got there around 5 and we had chicken enchiladas for dinner!! Oh man...you know I'm pretty biased when it comes to cooking because let's face it...my mom's is the best, but oh dang Dan's mom's cooking runs a dang close second. It's that good. See why I probably gained weight? Haha so we just hung out with them and played a game of Monopoly with cards. I don't remember what it was called but it was pretty fun.
Monday we had a delicious breakfast with eggs and bacon and french toast and then we went fishing. Well I've never been fishing...and the whole concept of it still being alive when you grab it out of the net to take the hook out of it's mouth is just NASTY! Matt caught the first fish and had it right behind my head so when I turned around...there was mister fish all flopping around right in my face!! YUCK! So I jumped up and screamed GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME! Everyone turned and looked at me...and then Dan's family started laughing at me...probably thinking why in the heck did we bring her along? But when Dan caught a fish, he made me hold it and oh my gosh I was holding that thing as far away from me as possible. The pictures will come one day, but they are pretty funny. I'm standing as far away from the fish as possibly while still holding it. It's hilarious. Then Dan and I hiked around the lake for a little bit. It was super pretty and we skipped some rocks...okay attempted to skip some rocks...we suck at it. Pretty bad.
Oh I neglected to mention how sunburned I got! I totally forgot to wear a hat or put on sunscreen! So my face looks like a tomato!! Monday night we went on a pajama run to McD's for a ice cream cone. It was delicious. On pajama runs though, you have to run out to the car in whatever you have on, so Dan wouldn't even let me put my shoes on so he gave me a piggy back ride to the car. Haha. We came back on Tuesday and it was just a fun little ride home. I was feeding Dan some chicken enchiladas and I was doing the airplane and the choo choo train because he was driving. Oh man...it's a good thing he loves me because sometimes I'm freaking weird. Haha.
Long story short: this weekend was the bomb dot com and I'm pretty sure I gained 10 lbs...and I loved every minute of it! The end.

The fox is flying! THE FOX IS FLYING!! THE FOX HAS...flown.
Wow what a weekend! Okay let's just start at the beginning, shall we? Well Saturday, Abbie and I woke up, she started writing her English paper, and I cleaned the apartment. Then I get a text from Dan asking if I wanted to go to lunch with him and Matt and Rhianna. He then told me it was gonna be a "pajama run" lunch, which means he'd pick me up without telling me when he's coming and I'd have a minute to get ready and go. Not about to go out to lunch looking like a bum, I hurried and got ready. He picked me up, and then we went and got lunch at a sandwich place in Pima, and then went to the picnic tables by the temple and ate lunch.
It was really funny listening to Dan and Matt tell stories about them growing up and all the trouble and messes they got into. When we got back to Matt's house, Dan and I played with the little puppy that ended up on their doorstep earlier that day. We came back to my apartment and Dan fell asleep on my couch. So I ran over to Kacey's to tell her that I had decided to go to Sierra Vista with them that night. She and Megan had asked me about it on Friday and I didn't know if I wanted to, or if it would be weird--asking all those stupid questions that girls do and being completely irrational. After much debate, I decided to go.
Kacey told me that Megan was getting out of clinicals around 7 so we'd leave as soon as she got home, but the whole plan was to keep it a secret from Dan so I could surprise him on Sunday. Dan and I went to a baptism and Kacey texted me around 6 that Megan was home. So I hurried home, packed my stuff, threw it in Megan's car, and ran over to Dan's to say goodbye so he wouldn't stop by my house and we could meet them somewhere and drive down to Sierra Vista together. We met them at a gas station in town, and I hid between the bench and the seat in front of me. They covered me in pillows so that Dan and Brian wouldn't know I was in the car.
We got to Megan's house and played kick the can with her cousins and just messed around in the backyard. When Dan and Brian and Bryson got there to talk to Jared, we were all in the backyard and they went into the game room to talk and look at pictures from Jared's mission. Kacey kept watch on the door when we went into the kitchen to talk to Megan's mom. The code was "the fox is flying." Luckily, we didn't have to use it. Megan, Kacey and I slept on the trampoline. The whole time I was texting Dan acting like I was still in Thatcher.
At church, we got there before Dan and Brian did and they sat behind us. Well, I severely underestimated Dan's knowledge of the back of my head. I guess I figured that the backs of people's head all looked the same. I guess when you stare at one all semester, you get pretty familiar with it. Hahah oh man poor kid. Good thing he doesn't know I'm writing this. Anyway, moving on with the story, he was texting Kacey and totally knew it was me. He found me before priesthood and relief society and it was sooo cute. He had the biggest smile on his face and was like I'm so happy to see you and I can't believe you're here! Good surprise huh?!
We had lunch at Megan's after church and took a million and a half pictures! Before we left, Marsha, Megan's mom, pulled me aside in the kitchen and asked me how much I liked this boy (Dan). Then she was telling me about his mom and how amazing she is. Holy crap, from what Marsha said, I'm pretty sure I'm absolutely terrified to meet her! She's amazing!! Never has a cross word to say about anyone. Pretty much the kind of person we're all supposed to be like, and I fall miserably short. Ugh. Great. If I wasn't nervous to meet his parents before, I totally am now!!
Fears aside, hopefully I'll have PLENTY of time to psych myself up to meet them. Oh dear. This could be interesting. Good thing it's not any time soon. Okay, back to Marsha: So she asked me if Dan and I were dating and I kinda laughed--nervously--and fumbled with through a yeah we are. Kacey piped in and said Yeah you guys are! He's telling people you're his girlfriend. Great. Well there you go, we're dating. Haha oh well. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
The drive back was fairly uneventful, except when we pulled off the 10 to get onto the 191 to come back. Out of nowhere, we see lights behind us. Yeah, Megan got pulled over, apparently for speeding. Being the adorable blonde she is, and lucky for us that Jared had just gotten home, she got off with a warning and the cop ended up talking to her for what seemed like FOREVER about his mission and where he went. Then, the cop gave us all permission to be back seat drivers so that Megan wouldn't speed anymore. Talk about a great day! I actually get PERMISSION to be a back seat driver!! Wahoo! Okay so it wasn't that exciting. It was honestly more weird and awkward than anything.
We made it home safe and sound. Thank goodness. I hung out with Dan and we just laughed about the entire weekend and how I was at Megan's the entire time and he had no idea. Such a good girlfriend--yuck. I don't know if I'll get used to that anytime soon. Haha. But he did like the surprise. Mission accomplished. Now that it's ridiculously late and I have a midterm on Tuesday in pharmacology--kill my life--I think we'll call this one quits. It's pretty ridiculously long. But hey, I want to remember this some day, and it's the details that count!!
