The BIG 25 for the Mister

Let's just say that Dan's birthday started out less than ideally. We went up to my grandparents house on Sunday night for dinner and just to see them. It was great and really good to see them, but we both had quite a bit of homework that had to be turned in either Sunday night, or before class Monday morning. Thankfully, we both had brought our computers to work on homework in case we had some down time. There was definitely some inspiration on that decision. Anyway, we are getting ready to leave, and it's pretty cold outside at this point, and the car won't start. Little background: the connection to our battery has been loose for the last few weeks and periodically we have to go set a piece of wood on top of the positive connection to keep the connection to the battery to start the car. So, we didn't think too much of it. Tried to start the car...nothing. Not even a click. Long story short, Dan was outside for almost an hour and a half trying to figure out how to fix our car and nothing was working. We ended up staying at my grandparents house that night.

We didn't sleep much. Something about the combination of stress and homework and not sleeping in your own bed will do that to you. Dan did not go to class on Monday, and neither did I. Unfortunately, Dan had an in class test that he obviously missed. After working on the car for seriously hours, and going to AutoZone at least once, he fixed it!! This little gem below fixed our car! And in the words of Dan: If we ever need to disconnect the battery it will have to be from the negative side because that's not coming off! He changed the terminal on the positive side of the battery, and after having the horn honk at him one too many times (I think the car thought we were stealing parts because it was the alarm horn going off), the car was fixed and we were able to get back home!

Before leaving, my Gramma took us to lunch at Cafe Rio for Dan's birthday. I'm a big lover of Mexican food, and it's quite the understatement to say I'm disappointed at the Mexican food selection in Utah. Something about being north of Arizona completely changes the taste of the food, and it's not the same. And everyone raves about Cafe Rio here and I honestly don't think it's that great...until yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised and actually really liked the food this time! Dan loves Cafe Rio too, so he was pretty happy!

Fast forward a few hours, and Dan is at work for the last few hours of the day, and since I was not able to make it to class, I hit up wally world for a few last minute birthday necessities. One of Dan's favorite things when it comes to cakes is yellow cake with chocolate frosting. If they're in a cupcake form, it's even better. Seriously, he loves them. It's cute.

I've been trying to figure out what to get for Dan's birthday that wasn't ridiculously expensive, especially with Valentine's day 3 days later. He had mentioned the other day that he really wants a REAL iron (as in regular size) and ironing board. So that's what I got him! I was a little worried that he really wouldn't like that, as much as he really wants a bigger iron. It would be easier to iron all his shirts, and much faster!

He loved it!! I love when I can get him stuff he actually likes. I always worry because shopping for men is so so hard (all the wives/girlfriends out there can appreciate that!) and seriously expensive when they have an expensive hobby (hunting).

He liked it so much, he set it up right in the living room and ironed 3 or 4 of his shirts right then.
This was at my Gramma's house earlier that day.

Happy Birthday to the best husband a girl could ever ask for and to this little guy. I can't believe he's already 6!! It breaks my heart we couldn't be together on their birthday, but that's what Skype is for right?!

February 11th may just be one of my favorite days out of the year. Two of my most favorite people in the world get to share that day together and I can't think of a better way to share your birthday than with family (especially when they're as cute as Kason is!).

Happy Birthday Dan! And here's to many many more to come. This will be the best year yet :]

TWO ONE

Yesterday was birthday number TWENTY ONE.
Old much? Not really.
Recap:
Breakfast/brunch at the Original Pancake House.
Work.
That's about all I got in yesterday.

So I worked until about 9/930 when all the salesman were finished selling, and as each of them texted me their futures and that they were done, I got a "Happy Birthday" of some sorts with it. It definitely made me smile, and made working on my birthday that much better. And, since I turned 21 and can legally buy alcohol, there were a few of the salesman making comments about shots.
One said he owed me a shot of REAL Mexican tequila.
I politely rainchecked.
One said I had to do Jager bombs, or no dice.
To this I replied that between the bombs and tequila, it looked like I'd be pretty hammered in the morning.
One said he would even buy me my first round.

The best part was, all of these salesmen are LDS, so even though I knew the shots/bombs/tequila was all a joke, it was still quite funny.

Dan picked me up, and we went home and made dinner.
Well he made dinner. It was delicious.
Pork Chops. Yum!

But before dinner, when we walked into the apartment, he said he had a surprise for me. Well...it was these beauties...

Yepp, he knows me all too well. My heart just melts for sunflowers!
So back to dinner, he had pork chops and a salad for dinner. It was so exciting to have everything all done up and pretty for it.

And he had croissant rolls baking in the oven to go with it! Soooo yummy!!

And dinner was completed with my favorite...RED VELVET CAKE!
Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture with the baked/frosted cake. So the mixings will have to do.

To make things EVEN better, Jen and Braxton came by, and brought me the sweetest treat ever! Seriously, these were the best cupcakes I've EVER had. EVER. They were chocolate (already a winner) with chocolate frosting and strawberry slices (double winner) with cheesecake in the middle. SCORE!!!

It was the best birthday yet...and I told Dan that this was quite the accomplishment because my mom through me a surprise party for my 16th, and I was totally shocked. So major accomplishment/props to him.

Birthday picture. Love him.

And just because I love his face SOOOO much...I want to remember this face forever.

Thank you for making my birthday so special. I love you!!

It's mah berfday

BIRTHDAY: 21

This morning was perfect. Dan didn't go to correlation and just stayed in bed with me. Then COERCED me to get up so we could go get brunch. So maybe coerced is a little harsh. He didn't have to try too hard. Rylee called me around 8 this morning and I probably sounded half dead. Haha. But it was sweet of her to call me and tell me happy birthday. I got flooded with text messages, and facebook wall posts. This girl feels LOVED for sure. So THANK YOU!!

Day started out with the phone call from Rylee. Then Dan and I got dressed, watch some more Olympic videos, and got ready for brunch.

We went to the Original Pancake House. So. Delicious.
Seriously, the BEST. PANCAKES. EVER. EVERRRR.
Like I had 3 of them and wanted more. That good. According to the menu, they were buttermilk.
I'm going to find the recipe online and make them. So good.

Then came the photo shoot of sorts. That will come later.
And now I'm at work. Which has been slow and easy, thank goodness.
I'm definitely looking forward to birthday dinner. Dan keeps asking me what I want, and I definitely don't know.
I'm excited.
The rest will come tomorrow.

PHOTO SHOOT:

He makes this face pretty regularly.

And this one too...

He's so cute. I just love him.

This one is probably my ultimate fav. You have me being the bad A, and I'm just not quite sure what Dan is doing, but it's funny nonetheless.

This is the ULTIMATE fav.

He does this a lot too. Seriously reminds me of my dad when he does this. And my mom can attest...she says in half of their wedding pictures, his tongue is sticking out.

The best friend/husband/man a girl could ever ask for.

I'm the lucky one.

To say the least...

Happy Birthday to my amazing sister!!!!

This is Princess Caitlin. And she makes faces in pictures quite frequently. In fact, it's dang near impossible to get her to smile normally.

I love you Caitlin and I'm so so grateful that you're my sister. You're one of my best friends and I'm so so glad we're in Provo together!! Much love and Happy 19th Birthday!!!

Dumpage

So don't mind my absentee blog writerness. Let's just say school has been slightly challenging, I started a new job that I really do enjoy, and life is just peachy keen. But...here's some picture's that have just been itching to get off my phone. Enjoy.

Dan went on a manager's retreat a couple of month's ago that was in Heber. They stayed at this legit cabin and the company had rented the cabin through Saturday night, so Dan came home, picked me up, and we stayed Saturday night at the cabin with Allister and Maria and their boys and Nate and Brayden. It was pretty entertaining and a nice little getaway from Provo for the night. We drove around a little bit on Sunday morning and saw these deer up on the hill! It was pretty exciting!!

Arizona trip President's day weekend. Finally home again, to the place where I belong. I've missed this place and getting to see it all the time. Never thought I'd miss that one horse town, but all it took was to see that temple rolling into town and I was home again.

Two favorite boys on their birthday with yellow cake cupcakes and chocolate frosting per Dan's request. Love them both. (PS. just in case anyone is confused...this is  my nephew)

We watch Kason every Wednesday night, and a couple of weeks ago it was just he and I. Dan was in Idaho. So Kason took my phone and was taking pictures of everything in his house. Then I started taking pictures of him making faces. This one is a personal fav of mine. Definitely going to miss this little spit fire when they move to Germany.

AZ trip: Ben and Tassy's wedding reception. They lit off Chinese lanterns! Just like in Tangled!! It looked so cool. Camera's just can't quite capture what the human eye can see.

December ish...our floor was leaking water. When the toilet would flush. SICK!!! It took almost a week to fix. Thankfully, it's fixed...and has been for quite some time. It was super weird when we figured it out and then to try and explain it to any plumber we called...yeah that was fun too.

More toilet water disgustingness. PS. This was leaking into our kitchen. SICK!!!! I think I went through a whole thing of bleach cleaning the kitchen.

I think this is the perfect shampoo for me! Straightener...you have met your match!

Valentine's Day Dinner. Love my honey. He was so sweet and surprised me with a bear at work and then had this romantic dinner all prepared when I got home from work. <3

He's so cute!

I got this note today when I came home from work. I absolutely love him a lot a lot a lot.

Buffalo Wild Wings for Dan's birthday. We waited an hour and a half before we even sat down! The line was RIDICULOUS!! I can't even believe we honestly waited that long...for WINGS!!!!!

I still can't decide if this was a good decision or not. Haha the color is growing on me more and more.

Mid-hole pulling through. Dan was so good to pull my hairs through.

The blonde mess....I looked like white trash. Ghettooooo fabulous. I think it's toned down a lot from then. But then again, maybe I'm just getting used to it. Oh dear.

One thing I WISH I could have gotten a picture of...so my birth control prescription jumped from $25 a month to $85, and let's be real, who can afford that? Certainly not me. So I did the only thing a BYU college student with ghetto fabulous hair trying not to get pregnant can do...I went to planned parenthood and got me a new prescription...and for $18 a month!! Woot woot. But there was this awkward clear uterus that was in the exam room to advertise/display/I'm not really sure for nuva ring. I wish I could have taken a picture of that. But...alas some things are just not meant for photographs.

It's been an interesting...and fun couple of months. 6 weeks left of school and then off to Denver!!! I'm so so excited for the summer. I'll have time for the gym, time to lay out poolside, oh...and time to blog. That's always a good thing to write my life out, at least somewhat.

The BIG 2-0!

Wow, I'm on a freaking blogging rant today. My bad. So my birthday is coming up in just a couple of days and Dan keeps asking me what I want. And to be completely honest, I don't really want anything. I'm still relishing in all the gifts we got from our wedding, so there's not anything that I want, and there's definitely nothing that I need.

But I do really want this movie.

It's pretty much the best movie ever, and I absolutely love the music.

More than anything though, I just want to spend time with this guy

And these guys

Anddddd these guys

And all of them

Now I really wish we could all be together again. But that won't happen for a while. It's a good birthday wish though. More than anything, I just want to be with the people that I love and the ones that love me. That would be the perfect day!
